Dr. Jayashree Rajagopalan hails from an illustrious family of artistes who have been preserving the traditional arts for the past four generations. She is the foremost disciple of the internationally renowned Indian danseuse, Dr. Padma Subramaniam who has researched and revived the 108 Karanas of Natya Shastra, which formed the basic unit of dance movement in ancient Jambudwipa (Eurasia) and evolved a distinctive style known as “Bharata Nrityam”. Having imbibed this beautiful style with all its nuances, Jayashree has established herself as the best spokeswoman of her Guru’s unique style. Aishwarya Harish (daughter of Dr. Jayashree R) is the recipient of the ‘Shingar Mani’ Award from the Sur SingarSamiti, the ‘NrithyaShivali’ from the Shivali Festival and the ‘Maanikya Mani’ from Nrithyodaya, to name a few. Together, the mother daughter duo, run an academy Nrityodaya, propagating this dance form along with researching into Ancient Indian History.
