Jhelum Paranjape
Jhelum Paranjpe is a renowned Odissi dancer who has trained under the aegis of one of the pillars of Odissi, Padma Vibhushan Guru Kellucharan Mohapatra. Having tried her hand at variosu other dance forms, it was Odissi which finally captured her heart. Starting her journey by performing in dance ballets staged by the Rashtra Seva Dal Kalapathak under the direction of noted poet Vasant Bapat and tutelage of Shri Ramesh Purav, today she runs 'Smitalay' a dance academy, in memory of her dear friend, Smita Patil, a famous Indian film star.
